Renal Physiologists are employed in renal dialysis units across New Zealand, both in major public hospitals and satellite clinics.

NZ Professional Development Outline for Renal Physiologists

Entry to practice

Completion of an internship and training course approved by NZASRDP such as:

  • Graduate Diploma in Health Science  (Renal Physiology) - Auckland University of Technology
  • Graduate Diploma of Medical Science (Clinical sciences) -James Cook University (Australia)
  • Swinburne University - Professional degree with 12 month renal placement (Australia)

Post graduate development

Supervised practice for 1 year. NZASRDP approved dialysis certification exam

Overseas trained Renal Physiologists

Registration in New Zealand as a Renal Physiologist is determined by NZASRDP membership.
